Since September 2025, David Senfter has been running the restaurant Ansitz12 in Lienz together with his wife Anita—a new culinary meeting place that interprets regional quality in a contemporary way while remaining deeply rooted in its home region. With Ansitz12, Senfter fulfilled a childhood dream: to live gastronomy independently, passionately, and uncompromisingly.
A native of East Tyrol, Senftner left his home at the age of 15 to train in some of Austria’s finest kitchens. His career was shaped by positions with Andreas Döllerer, Silvio Nickol, and Vitus Winkler. As head chef at the restaurant Hebbo in Dobbiaco, he gained international recognition. Falstaff named him Newcomer – Best Young Chef Italy in 2024, while Gault Millau honored him in 2025 as Rising Star of the Year, awarding his cuisine four toques.
